The Back

Towards forever together.

A whimsical card for newlyweds!
Congratulations, may you love forever continue to grow.

My sister and I made this piece a long time ago. This piece was a real joy to make. However, my skills have grown since. Should you like a similar card, let me know, I'll change it up a little, make the leaves using the quilling method, put some texture to the branch, and write the "congratulations" using a different method, give the card a border too...maybe.

Let me know.

(SOLD,
but a new card with improvements is available upon order)

For a Cause

There is a cause I hold very close to heart - The Subang Gurdwara.
Gurdwara is the place where Sikhs gather to worship God, together.

For as long as I have been in Subang Jaya, the Sikhs in Subang have been a strong lot.
We've always striven to be connected and together.

We come together for so many reasons.
Where there is a birth, we all become aunts and uncles, no questions asked.
Where there is a wedding, we just get our outfits sorted even before we receive the invitation card, like come on, wedding in the family, who needs an invitation card.
Where there is a death, we get together to get arrangements sorted so the family may mourn.
There are also the fundraiser dinners we have and other social functions which help us spend time together and foster better relationship.

There are quite a number of Sikhs in the Subang area, and we have a formal association - The Subang Sikh Association, Selangor.

One of the core tenets of the Sikh religion is "Sanggat". In its simplest form, it means congregation. This actually is a pillar of many other religions, just for example, Christianity and Islam. My Christian brothers and sisters have Mass on Sundays, where they gather and pray as a congregation, they also gather for mass on special occasion. I believe some of my friends have told me they go for mass for Christmas, Easter and Good Friday. For my Muslim brothers and sisters, I know they have Solat Jemaah. On Fridays the men gather for prayer at the mosque, and on other occasions, both men and women gather for prayer. I know during the Ramadhan month, there is prayer held almost every night, and before exams, they used to have mass prayer.

Sikhs too believe in praying in a congregation, we call it Sanggat. The need for and importance of Sanggat is repeatedly stressed in our teachings. While we may have Sanggat anywhere, a good ground would be our Gurduara. It is to further this teaching of the Lords' that the Sikhs of Subang are seeking to build a Gurdwara in Subang Jaya.

We have acquired the land, what we need now is money to build the structure.
The idea is for us residents of Subang Jaya to help with the funds, both by giving part of our earnings, and also by encouraging all of our friends of all faith and believes and from all over to help fund the building of the Subang Gurduara.

Help us Sikhs of Subang build our Gurduara.
Thank you, your generosity is much appreciated.

Love,
Amreeta Kaur
